Daniel Defense, a founding sponsor of the Marty Brown Memorial™ series of events, has generously donated a DDM4v7 rifle to this year’s events. Marty Daniel, founder of Daniel Defense, flunked out of the Georgia Southern University engineering program. Twice. After his second failed attempt at an engineering degree, Marty was determined to succeed. He more than fulfilled that by making the Dean’s List and graduating in 1985. He now sits on the Georgia Southern University’s Engineering School board of advisors.
Marty began his business career in overhead doors and fireplaces until one fateful day when a golfing buddy took him to the range and Marty fired his friend’s AR-15. Marty was hooked (is it a coincidence that Marty Daniel and Marty Brown share a first name and similar introductions to firearms as adults? Maybe. Maybe not.) Daniel Defense’s first product was the “Big Hole Upper“. Once all 100 of those were sold, Marty went on to design and manufacture a unique sling, an AR rail used by the US Army Marksmanship Unit (USAMU), the RIS II rail for the US Army SOCOM, and on and on.
Daniel Defense produced its first rifle (the DDM4) in 2009. Only 24 rifles were sold that year. Needless to say, Daniel Defense produces considerable more rifles than that now and every component of the rifle is manufactured and designed in Black Creek, GA.
Join us at the upcoming 8th Annual Marty Brown Memorial Invitational™ to be held at the long-distance ranges on the military side of Camp Atterbury, IN (near Edinburgh, IN and just south of Indianapolis, IN) on the weekend of Nov. 2-3, 2024. These are the same ranges used for the NRA National Matches. Dozens of other give-aways, skills contest prizes, and silent auction items will be given away/awarded at the event; a complete list can be found on the 2024 Marty Brown Memorial Invitational Swag Bags, Give Aways, Prizes, Auctions page of the Revere’s Riders website.
The Marty Brown Memorial Invitational™ is by invitation only to those able to safely handle their rifle with minimal to no supervision as well as sufficient marksmanship skills to keep rounds on target out to 400-600 yards. Those who have “shot a score” at a Revere’s Riders rifle event are automatically given an invitation (these invitations have already gone out via email; if you didn’t receive yours, please contact Phil Brown, Marty Brown Memorial Invitational™ Event Director, at philbrown@reveresriders.org).
If you can’t make the Invitational, then join us for another of our upcoming events:
