Revere’s Riders welcomes Frank Melloni and his wife Barb to the 8th Annual Marty Brown Memorial™ Invitational (“MBMI”) scheduled to be held the weekend of Nov. 2-3 at Camp Atterbury, site of the NRA National Matches, near Edinburgh, IN. This will be Frank and Barb’s second MBMI, having first attended in 2020. Frank was kind enough to write an article on his 2020 MBMI experience which was published in Shooting Sports USA.

Frank was a competitor on History Channel’s “Top Shot series (season 4) which featured top marksmen competing in unusual shooting challenges. Since his stint on “Top Shot“, Frank has become a well-known and respected firearms journalist and is currently a Field Editor at American Rifleman as well as Ammunition Editor at Athlon Outdoors. Frank is also a regular contributor to many other firearms publications including Guns & Ammo, Shooting Illustrated, Tactical Life, Ballistic Magazine, and Gun Digest among others.

Barb Melloni, Frank’s wife, will also be at this year’s MBMI and is a talented firearms journalist and outdoorswoman in her own right. Barb writes for Athlon Outdoors, NRA Publications, Outdoor Sportsman Group and more. Barb will be publishing an article on this year’s MBMI in NRA Women as well.

Barb and Frank are also co-owners of Renaissance Firearms Instruction (“RFI”) which offers instructional courses in pistol, rifle, long range rifle (out to 1,000 yards), along with a Henry “Cowboy Shoot” event and New York State CCW certification.

Come hang out with Frank, Barb, and a bunch of other marksmen at the upcoming 8th Annual Marty Brown Memorial™ Invitational. We guarantee that you will enjoy your weekend on the long-distance range while active and reserve duty military are training on the ranges next to you and in the skies above you. Full auto fire is almost guaranteed to be heard and at previous events we’ve also witnessed paratroopers jumping out of perfectly good helicopters along with A-10s doing strafing runs. Dozens of give-aways, skills contest prizes, and silent auction items will be given away/awarded at the event; a complete list can be found on the 2024 Marty Brown Memorial Invitational Swag Bags, Give Aways, Prizes, Auctions page of the Revere’s Riders website (that list begins with four firearms that will be awarded as skills contest prizes or given away; there is a high probability you will walk away with items worth more than the cost of your ticket!).

The Marty Brown Memorial™ Invitational is by invitation only to those able to safely handle their rifle with minimal to no supervision as well as sufficient marksmanship skills to keep rounds on target out to 400-500 yards with only a loop sling for support. Those who have “shot a score” at a Revere’s Riders rifle event are automatically given an invitation (these invitations have already gone out via email; if you didn’t receive yours, please contact Phil Brown, Marty Brown Memorial™ Invitational Event Director, at philbrown@reveresriders.org).

If you feel you have the requisite experience and proficiency with your rifle, please contact Phil Brown to discuss an invitation. You should be able to hold an approximately 4MOA group as well as be familiar with the Revere’s Riders Rifle Qualification Test, the NRA “Around the Course” rifle match, or 3-position shooting in general. Note that while we’re all fairly serious about our marksmanship, this is an informal rifle match with the primary purpose of raising money for ovarian cancer support and secondarily to have a great weekend on the range with great people.

The Marty Brown Memorial™ Invitational is the premier event in our Marty Brown Memorial™ event series to fundraise for ovarian cancer, a disease that took Marty Brown’s life in 2017. To date, we have raised over $72,000 in support of Ovar’coming Together’s ovarian cancer education and patient support programs in central Indiana. With your help, our goal is to push past $80,000 in total donations by the end of this year.
