The Indiana members of Revere’s Riders attended two Friends of the NRA banquets earlier this year: South Indy Friends of NRA on August 18th and Central Indiana/Hamilton County Friends of NRA on September 8th. We had two tables at the South Indy banquet and one table at the Central Indiana/Hamilton County banquet.
For those not familiar with Friends of the NRA (FoNRA), they are the 501(c)3 non-profit fundraising arm of the NRA and provide extensive support to youth education, women-focused clinics, law enforcement training, hunter safety, range improvement, firearms and marksmanship training and safety. FoNRA banquets generally comprise both silent and live auctions plus several raffles for firearms, firearms accessories, art works, jewelry, etc. Half of the event proceeds go to local/state projects while the other half go towards national projects.
The state of Indiana has been the number one FoNRA fundraiser for 3 years in a row now, raising in excess of $650,000 this past year. Revere’s Riders has been the beneficiary of FoNRA grants for several years; these grants have allowed us to acquire the following:
- loaner US GI slings
- eye and ear protection
- staplers for affixing targets to backers
- several Ruger 10/22 rifles
- extra Ruger 10/22 magazines
- several S&W Victory pistols
- Glock 17
- Sig 229
- ammunition for youth participants
