We don’t write up every single event that we run, but the recent event in Sesser was a great example of what you can expect to find at a Revere’s Riders event.
Ten attendees participated in our 2 day Rifle Clinic in Sesser, IL. With multiple skill levels, we had the opportunity to work on the 25 yard and 350 yard Range. One of our Participants enjoyed “hitting his mark” at the 300 yard target with his .22 Ruger – excellent application of what we teach. Others chose to continue in their self-testing, with most achieving Sharpshooter, Expert and Master Rifle scores.
In addition we discussed the History of Illinois and Missouri during the American Revolutionary War. Largely unknown were The Battle of St. Louis and the heartbreaking capture of Elizabeth Duncan Porter and her family who were Prisoners of War for 2 years “courtesy” of the Crown. Not far from Newman’s Gun Club, “The Liberty Bell of the West” has the distinction of being part of a line item during the negotiation of Peace ultimately leading to the boundaries of our Founding Nation extending to the Kaskaskia Region.
Bringing our shared History to those who have never experienced the “Local Connection” is a dynamic and new process. Many think of the Battles and suffering as confined to a set of Historical figures or Timeline “somewhere out East”. Revere’s Riders believes a personal connection within our Communities will lead to fulfilling our vision of “Every American Choosing Liberty, Every Day.”
As they go home to share their experiences – we reach out to thank all of the Instructors, Participants and Board Members who spent those hours together on the Range. A Spring Event is currently being planned. Contact IL@reveresriders.org to join the Waiting List or for information on how you can apply to become a Member of our Organization.
